Nebraska AGO Scholarships

"Memorial Scholarship for New Organists"

Criteria:

  • $500 Scholarship

  • Drawn from the Smith investment fund, or may accept donations.

  • Funds are sent to the instructor, not the applicant.

  • Instructor must be a member of the Nebraska Chapter of the AGO.

  • Intended for any person (of any age) with fewer than two years of organ study.

  • Applicants must live in Nebraska or the immediate surrounding area (to include Council Bluffs, Sioux City, Yankton, etc.)

  • One renewal allowed not less than 1 year later.

  • Renewing applicants must fill out the application form again with updated info and new letters of recommendation, statement of goals, etc.

  • Budget of five scholarships per year. More than that must be authorized by the EC.

  • Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted. There is no deadline.

  • Includes a one-year membership in the AGO (digital TAO) paid out of the general fund.

"Nebraska Chapter AGO Parish Organist Scholarship"

Intended for non-traditional organ students with some experience, perhaps pianists pressed into playing the organ. For individuals who need to learn to play the organ and serve their local congregations, especially for those wanting to improve their skills.​​​​

Criteria:

  • $500 Scholarship

  • Drawn from the Smith investment fund, or may accept donations.

  • Funds are sent to the instructor, not the applicant.

  • Instructor must be a member of the Nebraska Chapter of the AGO.

  • Lessons follow a loose, flexible syllabus that focuses on humn-playing, liturgical needs, registration, etc. ore than literature.

  • Applicants must live in Nebraska or the immediate surrounding area (to include Council Bluffs, Sioux City, Yankton, etc.)

  • One renewal allowed not less than 1 year later.

  • Renewing applicants must fill out the application form again with updated info and new letters of recommendation, statement of goals, etc.

  • Budget of five scholarships per year. More than that must be authorized by the EC.
